Just when you thought the stocks couldn't get any worse, Mask and Wig catapults you back to an era when money was tight and the thumbscrews were tighter in its 124th Annual Production, "A Reptile Dysfunction." Enter a totalitarian kingdom where it's the last straw for a town of revolutionary peasants hungry for change — or at least more straw. When the king finally un-ignores the townspeople's misery, he does the the only reasonable and prudent thing he can: stage a fake dragon-slaying to dupe the masses into accepting a world where fairy tales exist and everyone lives happily ever after. But when a rivalry between the prince and his identical twin breaks out over the right to the throne, the royal family's plan unravels, leaving the town with a tale as old as time turned on its head. So get off your high horse, climb down from your ivory tower, and get your head into the gutter for a show with so many sworded puns you'll want to draw your blade and yell, "En tendre." Help us put the moat back in emotionally-charged musical comedy, and come see "A Reptile Dysfunction."

Our 123rd Annual Production

A Volcanic Corruption: Sun Intended

Go tribal with Mask and Wig in its 123rd annual production, "A Volcanic Corruption," as we take you on an epic journey deep into the heart of darkness. After embarking on an ambitious hot air balloon journey to the sun, three dysfunctional siblings find themselves lost in deflation when a freak accident lands them on a tropical island. What started as an inconvenient detour soon turns treacherous, and with paradise lost, our heroes are forced into a struggle for life, limb, and gender identity. They must overcome ravenous tribesmen, an explosive volcano, and their own lust for power if they ever hope to see their overpriced cappuccinos again. Will they evade the wrath of the natives' god? Will they find lava in all the wrong places? Can they stop themselves from careening down a fatal road to El Dorado? Put your conch shells on vibrate and join Mask and Wig as we discover that, no matter how far away it seems, the sun is just a state of mind.

There's No Place Like Home

In its 122nd Annual Production, “A Cheshire Catastrophe”, Mask and Wig takes you down the rabbit hole, over the rainbow, and across the universe in a suitably absurd return to its historic clubhouse. At the opening we meet our protagonist Alex, a disillusioned college graduate who stumbles through a mysterious door at his graduation party and winds up a stranger in the bizarre fantasy world of Merryland (no, not Maryland). Initially only trying to find his way home, Alex becomes embroiled in a rebellion against the evil Lady Marmalade, who is hell bent on ordering and regulating the eccentric and fantastic world of Merryland. Will Alex ever find his way back home? Can Merryland be saved from the obsessive Lady Marmalade? Talking moles and Munchkaloompas and tap dancing, oh my! Break on through the looking glass and let Mask and Wig show you why there’s no place like home.

Eleven years ago, Mask & Wig established an annual Intercollegiate Comedy Festival to showcase the talent of the nation’s best collegiate sketch comedy troupes. The mission of the festival is not just to put on a hilarious show that cultivates new talent, but also to honor and showcase a well-known comedian. Past hosts include Ana Gasteyer, Bob Saget, Kevin Nealon, Stephen Colbert, Tim Meadows, Gilbert Gottfried, Dan Bakkedahl and Kenan Thompson.

In Mask and Wig's 121st Annual Production, "Oh, the Humanities!" The Mask and Wig Club takes its patrons back to one of the most inspirational, creative, and reasonable places in history: Florence, Italy during the Renaissance. Michelangelo is the new up-and-coming artist in Florence, while Leonardo Da Vinci is the perennial powerhouse Renaissance man. But Leo's girlfriend Mona Lisa smooches Mike in public, making the front page of the tabloids! Suddenly, Mike is widely successful and Leo has fallen from his perch. However, the political genius Machiavelli, seeing that Da Vinci is down and out, offers his help as an art agent. Almost overnight Da Vinci's paintings are selling for mega-florins again and Mike is just a passing fad. But all is not as it seems. What shifty business is Machiavelli up to? What is Mike up against? Paints, plots, and the classical beauty of our eight-"girl" kickline, all in this year's Mask and Wig masterpiece: "Oh, the Humanities!"
